A mix of silk tapestry fragments from Ming Dynasty period.
The Sogdians from Central Asia during the mid 1st millennium brought their art and technique of textile tapestry to China. These people established flourishing communities and by the 6th century, their textile patterns were very common and through the Silk Road influence it became known as “Kesi” where during the Song dynasty reached its height for its lightness and clarity of pattern.
